I spent many years of my life feeling more stress than I was willing to acknowledge and deal with.  It took a huge life-changing event, a traumatic divorce, for me to stop and begin to ask myself some honest and deep questions.

Day-to-day stress, major life challenges can definitely make life seem like a roller-coaster ride at times.  It can affect our health, relationships, our children, every area of our life.  I know from personal experience.

Stress has a way of sneaking into our lives, showing up in the rushed mornings, the endless to-do lists, and the weight of responsibilities that seem to never let up. For many women—especially moms—stress isn’t just about the present moment. It’s woven into the fabric of our lives through generational and societal conditioning, shaping how we show up for ourselves, our families, and our futures.

The Hidden Layers of Stress

Stress isn’t just about being busy or overwhelmed. It’s also about the deep-seated beliefs we’ve inherited. Maybe you grew up believing that being a ‘good mom’ means sacrificing yourself entirely. Or that success only comes from pushing harder and doing more. These patterns are often passed down unconsciously, keeping us stuck in cycles of stress, burnout, and disconnecting from our true selves.

Our true selves.  Picture an onion and all its layers.  That is what I felt like and you might too. All the layers make up the generational and societal conditioning and at the center of that ‘onion’ is your true self.  It is exhausting and suffocating to remain stuck in the center.

But what if there’s another way? What if reducing stress isn’t just about doing less, but about unraveling these patterns and choosing a new path—one where you feel safe, at peace, and fully yourself?

The Mind-Body Connection: A Key to Breaking the Cycle

Stress isn’t just in your head; it lives in your body too. When your nervous system is in a constant state of fight, flight, freeze, fawn, or flop, it affects your health, emotions, and relationships. You might find yourself snapping at your kids, feeling exhausted even after a full night’s sleep, or struggling to enjoy the moments that should bring joy.

This is where mind-body practices come in. Through nervous system regulation, breathwork, and movement practices like Restorative and Adaptive Yoga, you can shift out of survival mode and into a state of calm and clarity. Instead of reacting from stress, you begin to respond from a place of balance. Instead of feeling trapped by past conditioning, you create space to redefine what life looks like on your terms.
